1)  Some people need help; we have the resources and must help.
2)  Science is an iterative process. We will never know all the answers, but the best answers in health come from scientific research ๐Ÿ”ฌ.
3)  Not calling out health quackery ๐Ÿคฎ is foolish.
4)  One of the main reasons we led the world is because we funded ๐Ÿ’ต research ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ”ฌ.
5)  Make a statement โžก๏ธ Show me the data ๐Ÿ“Š.
6)  You never know what spin-offs will come out of some research-funded discovery. ๐Ÿฉป
7)  Yes, our healthcare system is screwed up, but donโ€™t slam research funding because of the outcomes. Fix the system. Moving upstream to prevent illness is a good idea. (Then again, 40 years later and sadly, it is still good luck with that).
8)  Until all people have access to quality healthcare ๐Ÿฅ and basic life necessities ๐Ÿฅฌ ๐Ÿ ๐ŸšŒ๐Ÿ’ง๐ŸŽ“ and .... for health. We have to research, understand, fund, and solve those issues.

Phrase of the day from my father, which resonates even more today. He was one of the early physicians and researchers in HIV/AIDS.

After I got blasted around 1999/ 2000 for discussing Dr. John Bartlettโ€™s HIV guidelines from some MDs who said it was โ€œcookbook medicineโ€. I asked him if he used them:

โ€œOf course I do, if I didnโ€™t, I would ๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ธ๐—ป๐—ผ๐˜„๐—ป ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐˜„๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ด๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—ฑ ๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜?โ€

He was wrongโ€ฆ. He might have discovered the known, but would others? Or would they even believe it?

Where do you think our healthcare system fails the most when trying to 'move upstream' to prevent illness?
